What our Airbnb cleaning service in Calgary covers
Every checkout at a home we manage is followed by a full turnover before the next guest arrives. That is the core of our Airbnb cleaning service in Calgary, and it runs the same way in Edmonton, Airdrie, Cochrane and Chestermere.
A turnover is more than a clean: it is the clean, fresh linens and towels, a restock of the basics and a look over the home for anything broken or missing.
Turnovers are part of Airbnb management in Calgary and our other markets, not an add-on you book stay by stay. Full management is 15–25% of revenue, depending on the package you choose (see pricing).
How a turnover fits between two guests
Every channel we list on feeds one Hostaway calendar, so a checkout from Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or premierstays.ca puts a turnover on the schedule the same way. The usual order:
- We confirm the guest has checked out, and the cleaner goes in.
- The clean runs room by room from a standard checklist.
- Beds are made with fresh linens and bathrooms get fresh towels.
- Routine guest supplies are topped up.
- The cleaner checks the home and reports anything that needs attention, with photos.
- The home is reset and ready for the next check-in.
Check-in and checkout times on every listing leave a working window for that sequence. Early check-in and late checkout requests are weighed against it, because a rushed clean is the one that misses something.
A short term rental cleaning checklist
Whoever cleans your home, this is what a good Airbnb turnover cleaning should cover:
- Strip and remake every bed with fresh linens
- Replace all towels, bath mats and tea towels
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms: toilet, shower or tub, sink, mirrors and floor
- Clean the kitchen: counters, sink, stovetop, microwave and fridge
- Empty the dishwasher and check that every dish is actually clean
- Vacuum and wash floors, including under beds and behind doors
- Dust surfaces and wipe handles, switches, remotes and other high-touch spots
- Empty every bin and take garbage, recycling and food scraps to the right carts
- Restock routine guest supplies to the set level
- Check that lights, appliances, the TV and the Wi-Fi work
- Look for damage, stains, missing items and any sign of a party
- Reset the home to match the listing photos: furniture, pillows, blinds and thermostat
Linens, towels and guest supplies
The linen and towel program
Every stay gets fresh bedding and towels through our standard linen and towel program. Consistent sets mean every bed looks the way it does in your photos, in March and in August. Stained, thinning or pilled pieces come out of rotation instead of going back on a bed. Laundry is a big share of every turnover, so an Airbnb linen service has to be as consistent as the clean itself.
Restocking
Routine guest supplies are topped up at every turnover: toilet paper, paper towel, hand and dish soap, shampoo, dishwasher pods, garbage bags and the other basics guests expect. No guest should have to message on their second night because something ran out.
When a clean turns up damage or a problem
The cleaner is the first person in the home after every guest, which makes the turnover your best early warning:
| What the cleaner finds | What happens next |
|---|---|
| A supply running low or missing | Restocked as part of the turnover |
| A small issue, like a dead bulb or a loose handle | Handled as a routine minor task, without a separate service-call fee |
| Something broken or not working | Reported with photos, and we coordinate the right trade |
| Damage caused by a guest | Photographed and documented right away, so recovery can be pursued through the platform or a security deposit |
| Signs of a party or event | Documented and taken up with the guest and the platform. Parties and events are never allowed in the homes we manage |
Timing matters with damage: platforms decide claims on evidence, and the best evidence is gathered before the next guest walks in. Optional ID checks and security deposits through Truvi add another layer for owners who want them.
Repairs, parts, licensed trades, replacement appliances and any damage not recovered from a guest are owner costs, and we tell you before we spend on anything outside routine operations. Maintenance and inspections explains how that work is coordinated.
Who pays for cleaning: the guest cleaning fee
Guests pay a cleaning fee with each booking, separate from the nightly rate, and that fee pays for the turnover after their stay. It is set for each listing and should reflect the real work involved: beds, bathrooms, laundry and the size of the home.
Setting it is a balance. Too low and it doesn't cover the work; too high and a one- or two-night stay looks expensive next to similar homes. Guests weigh the total, so we look at it together with the nightly rate.
Why consistency shows up in your reviews
Cleanliness is one of the things guests rate separately on Airbnb, and they judge it the moment they walk in. A hair in the shower colours how a guest feels about everything else. A home that has been right for months and slips once still gets the review for that stay.
That is why turnovers run from a checklist rather than memory: problems get found by the cleaner, not the guest. If a guest does message about something mid-stay, our 24/7 guest communication team handles it and the next turnover follows up.
What to expect as an owner, and how to help
What you can expect from us:
- A full turnover after every stay, including one-night stays and busy weeks.
- A message from us, with photos, when a clean finds something that needs your decision.
- Repairs and other owner costs shown on your monthly owner statement.
What helps, especially in Calgary:
- Plan for winter. Snow, gravel and road salt end up in the entry. A boot tray, a washable mat and hard flooring by the door protect your floors.
- Tell us your building's rules. In a condo or townhouse, garbage rooms, visitor parking, elevator bookings and fob access all affect a turnover.
- Give spare supplies a home. A locked owner's closet keeps backup stock on site.
- Choose furnishings that wash well. Slipcovers, washable rugs and stain-resistant fabrics hold up to a clean after every stay.
- Expect tight weeks. Calgary Stampede in July and other big events bring back-to-back stays with little slack.
